Cartwheel Tours: “Venice Beach Walk with Dan Levy of Juice Magazine” – Venice Beach

Immerse yourself in Venice Beach with the contagious positive energy of Dan Levy, a Venice Beach local, who will provide an insider perspective about the history of his neighborhood’s culture, which includes the birth of the skateparks and muscle beach. You’ll also view murals and street art of local and well-known artists and see points of interest such as the old and historical home of Charlie Chaplain.

Dan, designs each tour route individually, based on the group’s overall interests and knowledge of Venice Beach, as well as skateboarding. His tours are always full of surprises and celebrity drop-ins that make for one of a kind memories.

– Walking shoes are recommended.
– Meeting location will be provided to attendees before the day of the tour.

Host Bio: Based in the heart of Dogtown, Venice Beach, California, Dan Levy lives breathes and eats skateboarding, music, and art, serving these communities through his photography and writing at Juice Magazine, which has been publishing in print since 1993.

Dan was one of the key advocates in getting the world famous Venice Beach Skatepark built, which has become the most photographed and skated skateboarding facilities in the world. The majority of Dan’s photos are seen in Juice Magazine, and he has also been published in Rolling Stone, Vice, Transworld Skateboarding, Surfers Journal. Dan and his footage and photos were featured in the Made In Venice documentary about the fight for the Venice skatepark, and his commercial work includes Bones Wheels, Gullwing Trucks, Z-Flex, Anaheim Skateboards, Juice and Zephyr ads. Most recently 10 of his photographs, including a rare shot of Zack de la Rocha, were featured in a new book entitled “Somos Locos” published by the California Locos and the Manhattan Beach Art Center. Dan’s photo of Greyson Fletcher also made the cover of Juice Magazine’s 20 Year Anniversary issue celebrating Greyson and the extensive Fletcher family tree of surfers and skaters.

As a skateboarder, Dan was the 3-time champion of the Venice VSA Skate Contest from 2000 to 2003 and he also rides for the illustrious Jeff Ho / Zephyr competition team.
